"Bent-Tail," A Dominant, Sex-Linked Mutation in the Mouse.
نویسنده
چکیده
Although sex-linkage in animals is no longer an unusual phenomenon, its apparent rarity in rodents is noteworthy, especially in the intensively studied house mouse and rat. Hauschka, et al.,1 have presented evidence for a sex-linked lethal altering the sex ratio in the house mouse; Falconer2 recently reported a second sex-linked mutation in the house mouse. A third sex-linked mutation, Bent-tail (Bn), in the same species was indicated in a 'preliminary report.3 Additional data on the inheritance of Bent-tail are presented in this report.

The X-linked mouse mutation Bent tail is associated with a deletion of the Zic3 locus.
Bent tail (BN:) is a spontaneous, semi-dominant mutation on the mouse X chromosome that produces tail deformities and, rarely, open neural tube defects. متن کاملLinkage Relations of the Genes Histocompatibility-2 and Fused Tail, Brachyury and Kinky Tail in the Mouse, as Determined by Tumor Transplantation.
HE literature on the genetic and antigenic basis of tumor transplantation has T been reviewed by BITTNER (1935), LITTLE (1941; 1947), HAUSCHKA, (1952) and SNELL (1953b, c). In mice, the genetic loci involved were named “histocompatibility” loci by SNELL (1948), the prefix “histo” being used to denote the probable similarity of genes determining reactions to neoplastic and normal tissue transpla...
متن کاملI-17: The Mechanism of Gonadal Sex Determination
Background In mammals, a single exon gene SRY on the Y-chromosome is activated in the XY gonadal primordium and initiates a cascade of molecular and morphological events leading to testicular differentiation. SRY-encoded protein (SRY) is a transcription factor harboring a HMG-box DNAbinding motif that upregulates SOX9, which encodes another transcription factor sharing the DNA binding motif wit...
متن کاملI-43: Identification of SOX3 as an XX MaleSex Reversal Gene in Mice and Jumans
Background: Mammals utilise an XX/XY system of sex determination in which the Y-linked gene SRY (Sexdetermining region Y) exerts a dominant masculinising influence on sexual development. Sex chromosome homology and comparative sequence studies suggest that SRY evolved from the related SOX3 gene on the X chromosome, although there is no direct functional evidence to support this hypothesis. The ...
متن کاملAutosomal Recessive Hypohidrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia Caused by a Novel Mutation in EDAR Gene
Backgrounds: Hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia (HED) is a rare genetic disorder, distinguished by hypotrichosis, hypohidrosis, and hypodontia. HDE can be inherited in X-linked recessive manner as a result of mutations in the ectodysplasin A (EDA) gene as well as autosomal dominant and autosomal recessive manners both of them caused by mutations in EDA receptor (EDAR) and EDAR-associated death d...
